Nha Trang
Overview
Nha Trang is a coastal city and capital of Khanh Hoa province, on the South Central Coast of Vietnam. Nha Trang is well known for its pristine beaches and excellent scuba diving and is fast becoming a popular destination for international tourists, attracting large numbers of backpackers as well as more affluent travelers on the Southeast Asia circuit.
Nha Trang is often referred to as the ‘Seaside Resort’ of Vietnam, having vast tranquil beaches and the finest climatic conditions. Of the 6 major Nha Trang Beaches in Vietnam, Tran Phu is the most popular one. There are many hotels, eateries and bars are lined along the street. Being the most frequent one, Tran Phu Beach is also the most crowed of all the Nha Trang beaches.
The other Nha Trang beaches though less popular are perhaps lovelier and more soothing. The Northern part of Nha Trang and some of its islands flaunt beaches like Hon Chong beach and Dai Lanh Beach. With its beauty, these beaches are amongst the finest beaches in Vietnam and are surely a treat for the eye.
Apart from unwinding yourself in the midst of nature, you can also indulge yourself in some of the various outdoor activities that Nha Trang Beaches has offered. Here you can go for a swim in the sea, play football or badminton, perform Tai Chi, a kind of Chinese meditation popular in Vietnam and many other activities. Sun bathing is another favourite which is popular among the tourists. The Nha Trang Beaches in Vietnam also invites long leisurely walks. It is no wonder that the Nha Trang beaches are recognized as the most popular places of the Vietnam destinations.
Nha Trang is not influenced by monsoon winds. It has a warm, fair and beautiful climate nearly all year round, exception for October, November and early December (rainy season – September, October, November and December). Nha Trang has dry periods in February and March. November is the wettest month. February is the driest month.
Nha Trang has beautiful weather from February to August. Overall, Nha Trang’s temperatures are moderate throughout the year 27C. In summer months, it gets quite humid. February - April is the best time for visitors spending time on the beaches. In fact, the best diving time in the area is generally considered to be during the spring months.

Van Phong Bay
Van Phong Bay is located near the Nha Trang Bay (Khanh Hoa), one of the most beautiful bays in the world. Van Phong Bay has 350 kinds of coral and 270 kinds of fish as well as shrimp.
The pristine beaches in Van Ninh, Ninh Phuoc, Ninh Thuy, Ninh Diem are gradually risen the charming resorts. With white sand beach 16 km in length, it is a unique masterpiece of Vietnam’s nature. It is regarded as one of the Asia’s most perfect sites for eco-tourism, and it is rated as an ideal place for scuba diving.
The bay is famous for Hon Ong, Dam Mon and Bai Nhau. They are absolutely fantastic place for resting, learning about the inhabitants’ fishing work and the habits and customs of minorities living in the bay and for water sports: catamaran, windsurfing, scuba diving and snorkeling, etc.
In Dam Mon, the best activity may be scuba diving to the coral reefs, rowing boats and fishing squid or cuttle-fish at night. There is a sand dunes toward Dam Mon Village, where you can learn about how the local fishermen smear Chai onto the bottom of their boats to make them waterproof. Besides, you can enjoy the perfect sunset from the top of the dunes.
Nha Trang Bay
Nha Trang Bay covers about 507square km, including 19 islands, among of which Hon Tre is the largest island, the smallest island is Hon Ngoc only about 4 hectares. The Bay has two seasons: dry season (January to August), rainy season (from September to December); average temperature is 26C to 39C.
Ecologically, Nha Trang Bay is one of the typical examples of natural system bays in the world because of its typical ecosystems of tropical sea. It is wetland ecosystems, coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass beds, estuarine ecosystems, ocean island ecosystems. Specially, Hon Mun of Nha Trang Bay has the highest biodiversity with 350 species of reef corals accounted for 40% of the world.
Among the many islands in the Bay Islands, there are famous sights: Hon Nhieu (also called Bong Nguyen Island) – Tri Nguyen aquarium with exotic marine life. The way to the lake is full of color and gravel beach.
Hon Tre Island is the largest one in Nha Trang Bay with an area of 30 km square; about 5km far from the central city of Nha Trang to the east with beautiful beaches, Water Park and Aquarium.
Hon Tam is a major ecological island tourist, remaining of natural wild look with a green carpet of tropical forest, long sandy beach romance. Behind this island, it is a very special cave. It named Doi cave, where many bats lived at a height of 60m.
Hon Chong – Hon Vo includes two large clusters of rocks situated at the foothills Lasan. The bigger rock is called Hon Chong, includes a large rectangular block of stone lying on a flat and wide rock, the side facing to the sea has hand-shaped ice. The other one has shape of a woman sitting in the sea – it is given a name meaning close to Hon Chong – that Hon Vo.
Ponagar Tower
Ponagar Tower is historical and cultural site, typical architecture and sculpture works of Cham people. Tower is located on a small hill, known as Thap Ba Mountain at the north of Nha Trang in Vietnam.
The tower was built from 813 to 817 by Harivácman, the King of Cham people. Years by years as well as the influence of the weather, the tower was damaged considerably. In the French Colonist time, the tower was rebuilt several times. The place includes four towers. All were built as the tower of Cham people. The bricks were built very tight. The tower’s gate faces to the East. The main tower in the Ponagar is prayed for the Ponagar God, the beauty God. The tower has four-storey, each floor has its doors, statues of God and holy animal made of stone. It is a masterpiece of Cham’s Sculpture. The other towers in the Ponagar Tower are prayed for Siva, Ganeca and Sanhaka God.
The Thap Ba (Po Nagar) Festival is held annually from March 20th to the 24th of the lunar calendar to remember the construction of the Goddess who built up the land, kept the race alive, found the rice and taught the local people to farm and make handicrafts.
Visiting the Tower, tourists will have a chance to explore and gain new knowledge of the historical and architectural values of Vietnam.
Long Son Pagoda
Long Son Pagoda is located in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province at the foot of Mount Trai Thuy.
The pagoda was open in the late 19th century and was reconstructed in 1940 with the modern architecture. This pagoda was built to commemorate the monks and nuns who died while fighting against the Diem government.
The entrance and roofs are decorated with mosaic dragons constructed of glass and bits of ceramic tile. The main sanctuary is an attractive hall adorned with modern interpretations of traditional motifs. Behind the pagoda, a big white Buddha (Kim Than Phat To) seated on a blossomed lotus. Tourists can see the beautiful view of Nha Trang from the platform around the 14m-high figure, which was built in 1963. As you approach the pagoda from the street, the 152 – stone steps up hill to the Buddha begin to the right of the structure. You should take some time to explore the charming off to the left, where there’s an entrance to another impressive hall of the pagoda.
Thap Ba Hot Spring
